We offer a range of exercise classes at Good Country Physiotherapy. All our exercise classes are supervised and run by an experienced physiotherapist who can correct your technique and assist you as required.
What are the benefits of exercise?
Exercise reduces stress, fatigue, anxiety and depression meaning it is great for your mental health as well as your physical fitness. Exercise can improve your physical function and improve muscle and bone strength. Exercise is also important in maintaining healthy joints and has been shown to be the best first line treatment for arthritis. Regular exercise also reduces the risk of falls and the risk of medical conditions such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. Exercise classes are also a great way to meet new people and improve your social interaction and quality of life!

The classes we run are:

Step up
Step up is an exercise class for adults aged over 55. The class aims at improving strength, balance and general fitness. Everyone in the class performs slightly different exercises depending on their level of fitness and capacity. This class is great to get older adults stronger and is a good opportunity for social interaction.
Strong on your feet (SOYF)
SOYF is an 8-week program focused on falls prevention, improving mobility and improving balance. The program includes an education component and an exercise component. This class provides participants with information about mobility aids, ways to improve their home environment and helps participants to work on their balance and strength while being monitored by an experienced physiotherapist.
Hydrotherapy (Bordertown only)
We run weekly 30 minute classes in the indoor heated pool where participants complete their individualised program while being supervised by one of our experienced physiotherapists. These classes are great for people who struggle with land-based exercises due to pain or mobility difficulties.
Functional Rehab
Functional rehabilitation classes are small group classes (maximum of 4 in a class) and are designed to focus on specific injuries and work towards specific goals. These classes include a variety of equipment including Pilates reformers and a variety of weights.
Large mat work classes
We run large group Pilates based classes which are great for general exercise, strengthening and stretching. These classes are generally not claimable on private health. In Naracoorte we run a Pilates class just for men which is very popular. Coming up in January, we have some come and try Pilates sessions if you'd like to see what it's all about!
Mums and Bubs Exercise
Mums and Bub Exercise is a small group class ran by our women’s health physiotherapist Naomi. These classes are suitable for women who are pregnant or post pregnancy, and babies and kids are very welcome.
GLA:D
Do you have knee or hip arthritis? Did you know that exercise has been shown to be effective treatment for arthritis. GLA:D classes are structured specifically for people with osteoarthritis of the knee or hip and are run by specifically qualified GLA:D physiotherapists. This program of twice weekly sessions also includes free education sessions to help you understand arthritis.
