Some quick facts regarding low back pain from the World Health Organization:
In 2020, low back pain (LBP) affected 619 million people globally and it is estimated that the number of cases will increase to 843 million by 2050.
LBP is the single leading cause of disability worldwide and the condition for which the greatest number of people may benefit from rehabilitation.
Prevalence increases with age up to 80 years, while the highest number of LBP cases occurs at the age of 50–55 years.

Low back pain can be acute, sub-acute or chronic in nature, and in roughly 90% of cases there isn't a specific structure that can be blamed; this is termed non-specific low back pain.
Signs and symptoms of low back pain can vary substantially from person to person. It can be a dull ache, sharp stabbing, and can even extend down into the legs.
Some of the main risk factors for low back pain are low physical activity levels, smoking, obesity, and high physical stress at work.
Some ways to manage low back pain include being physically active, optimising mental wellbeing, maintaining a healthy body weight, not smoking, getting good sleep, engaging in social and work activities, and making ergonomic adjustments in the workplace.
These are great options, but sometimes you'll just need a little more help. This is where seeing a professional may help.
