Where do you find your 30?

If you’ve been reading our articles over the past few weeks you would have learnt about the importance of physical activity and how much you should be doing per day.

Now you might be wondering where you can go to get your 30 minutes of exercise a day.

The good news is that there are plenty of spots in Naracoorte to go! Below are a few places to get you started, however it is not an exhaustive list.

If you enjoy walking or are looking to do more, then the Memorial Oval Parklands is a great place to start. The park features a 1.1-kilometer compacted gravel walking track so you can do as many laps as you like! The park also features some community exercise equipment with instructions if you're looking for some light resistance training.

The Naracoorte Caves feature a variety of different walks for all fitness levels, including the scenic rooftop loop walk which is an 860m wheelchair accessible compacted earth walking track. Keep an eye out for the Mega Fest Naracoorte World Heritage Trail Run on the 22nd of November - with 4 distances available there is something for everyone!

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Creek Walk, a 5km loop surrounding the Naracoorte Creek and Naracoorte North Nature Park which can also be completed in smaller sections. We recommend checking out the Visitor Information Centre in The Sheep’s Back Museum to enquire about maps available for these and other walking tracks.

If you find it hard to motivate yourself to exercise on your own, you may like to try a social sport. Naracoorte Golf Club boasts a pristine 18-hole course with lovely green fairways. Try walking instead of getting a cart for some extra activity in your day. With two bowls clubs in town both with lovely facilities, you might enjoy it more than you think!

Another way to increase your motivation and accountability is to join a group exercise class. Community Yoga with Jacqui, Verity Yoga and Wellbeing, and KB Fitness and Nutrition offer a variety of individual or small group classes tailored to suit various fitness levels. Naracoorte also has two fantastic gyms that offer a variety of group classes suited to all fitness levels. For example, South East Exercise Physiology run a “Hands on Health” fitness class at the Naracoorte Health and Fitness Centre which targets those living with chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

If you think you need some extra help to get you started on your fitness journey, Good Country Physiotherapy run multiple small group classes targeted specifically for those above 65 and various conditions including arthritis.
