Angela Busy with Conferences
01-Dec-2011It has been a busy few weeks for Good Country Physiotherapy Director Angela Dunsford lately. She has spoken at three conferences in three states! First off, she presented her research on the injury rates in under 18 state AFL players at the Sports Medicine Australia Science and Medicine in Sport Conference in Fremantle in October. This conference was attended by over 450 people, including sports doctors, physiotherapists, podiatrists, sports scientists and other allied health professionals involved in sports medicine.
Next stop was Brisbane, where she presented the same research to the Australian Physiotherapy
Association biannual conference in the Sports Physiotherapy stream. Over 1800 physiotherapists from around Australia and further afield attended this conference, which showcased some of the amazing work being done by physiotherapists across a range of different specialty streams.
Finally, she presented at the Rural Doctor's Workforce Agency annual conference in Adelaide in November. This presentation focussed on the key role that physiotherapists and rural GPs can play in improving the health profile of people living in the country, through health promotion programs. Seventy doctors from across rural South Australia were in attendance and the presentation was well received.
In November, Angela taught a level one Sports Trainer's course, on behalf of Sports Medicine Australia. Twelve locals involved in football and netball clubs in the Limestone Coast region graduated from the course, which was held at the Keith Football Club.
